Why "Above the Clouds"?

I have been putting off the whole "blogging" thing for a few reasons..
1. I feel like blogging is some sort of trend that people (women especially) use to make much of themselves.. And the last thing I need is another avenue for my sinful nature to try and do that.
2. There are SO many blogs. What do I have to say that someone else hasn't already said?
3. My life is not that thrilling.. :)
4. Do I really need to add another thing to my life to keep up with?

But here I am.. starting ANOTHER blog. Despite all those reasons I have listed, I have always loved writing. I have countless journals pretty much documenting my entire life - the good, the bad, and the ugly. And honestly, I rarely go back to read those journals but the sheer act of processing my day and putting things into words has continually played a huge part in my life. I feel like through my writing and processing, I am able to hear God speak to me and change my heart. I thought one day I may write a book but now that I am old enough to see the work that would go into that, I don't see that happening. :) A few "God-moments" have happened over the last few weeks that have pressed writing on my heart again. The most recent was yesterday, when my mom took my journal as I took notes during church and just wrote "Above the Clouds".

Why "Above the Clouds"?

I have grown up traveling (I am pretty sure my first plane ride was when I was 6 months old) and have always been fascinated by the idea of exploring new places. I remember the first time I was able to comprehend that during our flight, when we would ascend above the clouds one thing was always in common... It was always sunny. The skies may appear to be grey and dark when looking up from the ground, but no matter what - once you got above the clouds, it was beautiful. I think that's how life is too. We may not understand the storms we are going through, but above those storms, God sees our life with clarity and beauty. No matter what is happening on earth, heaven is always perfection.

I love this little quote I found that says "We write to taste life twice..". That's exactly what I will be doing on this blog and I am excited to get my words flowing again. Thanks for letting me clutter the inter-web with my ramblings!
